New Gardener Application

Garden Site

The garden address is 248 Stanaford Place, Columbus, OH, 43207. Growing space is available in select raised garden beds.

What Gardeners Can Expect

We will provide you with: a designated raised bed, access to garden tools, water, and plants where available. Gardeners will have access to educational resources via the Franklin County Master Gardener program in addition to an existing supportive community of growers. Opportunities for additional volunteering and community engagement are available throughout the year.

Gardeners meet on a weekly basis to share ideas, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic maintenance of their beds.

Our Expectations

  • Plots are reserved on a first-come-first-served basis and must be cleared out by the leasee by December 1st.
  • The suggested fee for the year is $25.00.
  • Place any tools back in the shed after using. If additional tools are needed, you can make this request to the Garden Manager.
  • Make sure to close and lock the shed before leaving the property.
  • Email the Garden Manager about any suspicious activity that occurs.
  • Guests are permitted in the garden and must remain under supervision. Guests are expected to comply with all garden rules.
  • Children under 14 must be supervised at all times while in the garden.
  • Abandoned plots may NOT be refunded after the start of the growing season.
  • Smoking, chewing tobacco, and open flames are NOT allowed in the garden. Tobacco is a carrier of the Tomato Mosaic Virus, which can kill many common vegetable crops. Cigarette butts contain a number of compounds that are hazardous to health.
  • Members may be asked to complete garden maintenance outside of their designated plot to keep the space beautiful for all who visit.. Such maintenance items are: ○ Keeping equipment and site in good condition (general maintenance). ○ Weeding and cleaning the gardener's plots and pathways of the garden. ○ Picking up trash/litter
  • Non-selective herbicides (like Roundup) are NOT allowed in the garden.
  • All structures and vegetation must not cross into, or shade, another plot.
  • Do NOT harvest from other plots or public spaces.
  • Watering, weeding, harvesting, and any other garden-related maintenance are all the responsibilities of the plotholder. If you will be away for an extended period, email the Garden Manager.
  • Plotholders can arrange for other plot holders to watch over their plot while they are away.
  • Compost bins will be provided. Please remove any other trash from the site.
  • Email the Garden Manager if you find any leaks in hoses or damaged tools.
  • Gardeners are expected to remain engaged for the duration of the season and maintain their plots consistently.
  • Gardeners will communicate with the Garden Manager if any issues arise.

By submitting an application I affirm that:

I am at least 18 years old.

I can commit to the full growing season; April through November.

I will NOT pick produce from someone else's plot or common area for my own distribution or consumption

I understand monthly payments are available if needed.

I agree to maintain my plot to shared site standards; including weed management; keeping paths clear; and completing end-of-season cleanup.

I agree to demonstrate inclusive behavior and respect shared community space.

I understand that CD4AP may contact me if clarification is needed; and submitting an application does not guarantee a plot.
