Census 2010
You're Imporant! Be Counted!

The census in one form or another has been with us for millennia. One of the first recorded censuses took place in Rome in the 5th century B.C. At that time the population was counted and divided into classes according to wealth. Centuries later during the reign of Caesar Augustus, the census was taken every five years and families were expected to travel to the city of the husband’s heritage for the purposes of taxation. This was the census that called Joseph and Mary to the city of David for registration; during their stay Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Luke 2:1-7.

Soon it will be time for everyone residing in America to register but we will not have to travel to our ancestral home. In mid-March, you will be receiving your U.S. Census form in the mail. It’s important to take 10 minutes to answer 10 simple questions and mail the form back as soon as you complete it. Data from the census is used to distribute resources based on population counts. Your completed census form will help your community bring in much-needed federal dollars to help pay for community and social services!

Here’s how it works: Complete the census form for everyone living in your house at the time you receive it in the mail. Confidentiality is guaranteed under Title 13 of the U.S. Code. Census workers take an oath for life to protect your privacy.

Much is at stake if you don’t fill out the form. Ohio needs a complete and accurate count to get its fair share of federal dollars for programs and services that people count on and need. The federal government relies on the census data to allocate over $300 billion in grants to states for programs, such as HEAD START, HEAP (home heating assistance), Supportive Housing for the Elderly, Crime Prevention Assistance and SCHIP (healthcare for children) , just to name a few.

For every person not counted, Ohio could lose $12,000 over the 10-year census cycle. With the economic challenges facing Ohio, we need to work toward a full and accurate count. Tell your friends and family to complete and return the forms. Let’s make it a complete count for Ohio!

The Community Development for All People is a Questionnaire Assistance Center. If you need help completing your census questionnaire or if you have any questions about the census, contact us. Someone from the U.S. Census Bureau will be on site to answer questions Tuesday through Thursday. (614) 445-7342.

Need a Job? The U.S. Census Bureau is NOW HIRING. Come in and take an employment test to become a census taker. Where: at the Church for All People, 946 S. Parsons Ave, 43206 on Wednesdays @ 3:30PM or Fridays and Saturday @ 10:00AM.

You’re important! Be Counted!
Complete and mail back your 2010 census form.

Thank you.

Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Families (HNHF)

Community Development for All People has teamed up with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to form The Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Families Realty Collaborative; with the intent to rehabilitate or repair homes within a 28 block area to the immediate south and east of the Hospital’s main campus. The goal of The HNHF Collaborative will be to generate a net community gain of 65-75 homes within the next 5 to 7 years, by renovating houses and with the creation of a Home Repair Program for owner-occupied units set to begin in 2010. The first renovation project is at 770 Carpenter Street, expected to be completed at the end of April.

Our project also involves working with the residents of the owner occupied homes in our target area. By building trust and creating opportunities for residents to come together for mutual support, fellowship and activities, we will be creating community that will set in motion an ongoing relationship among participants and allow for a sustained project.

We envision partnering with a variety of private businesses, charitable organizations and government agencies to achieve this bold plan for comprehensive transformation. We plan to recruit teams of volunteers from businesses, civic organizations and churches to work with our home owners to do landscaping and yard work at homes of persons in the community and in neighborhood parks.
