/i//workers.jpg We are pleased that we have received an AmeriCorp* Vista Grant for our "Healthy Homes" project. Beginning in July, we will have a Vista Worker who will be implementing this program.

World Changers is a faith-based mission project of the Southern Baptists which sends thousands of youth across the country to different cities to do home repair. They will be sending more than 217 youth to Columbus the week of June 16-20 to work on 22 homes on the Southside. These happy homeowners will receive new roofs, siding, paint jobs or other needed repairs on their homes. The repair costs will be funded by the City of Columbus. Additional Sponsors are Apex Builders, Community Development for All People, Home Depot and Rebuilding Together Central Ohio.

About Healthy Homes

Community Development for All People is collaborating with others in our community on a Healthy Homes initiative to improve the houses and properties in the 20 to 25 square blocks that are located immediately to the south and east of Livingston Ave.

The Vista worker will have primary responsibility for implementing the objectives set forth in this proposal. The Vista Worker will receive guidance and support from the entire staff, volunteers, and board directors of Community Development for All People at all times.

Our project involves working with the residents of the owner occupied homes in our target area. By building trust and creating opportunities for residents to come together for mutual support, fellowship and activities, we will be creating community that will set in motion an ongoing relationship among participants and allow for a sustained project.

We envision partnering with a variety of private businesses, charitable organizations and government agencies to achieve this bold plan for comprehensive transformation. We plan to recruit teams of volunteers from businesses, civic organizations and churches to work with our home owners to do landscaping and yard work at homes of persons in the community and in neighborhood parks.

"Mr. Thomas and Miss Shirley" are two of the pleased homeowners who will receive a new roof, siding and get their porch painted by World Changers. We're the pleased recipients of some of the best pies that Mr. Thomas made and sent as a "thank you" to our staff.

CD4AP now part of the CityLiving Network

The CityLiving Network (CLN) is an exciting new cooperative marketing, buyer preparation, and sales effort which offers a centralized source for affordable housing information and listings in Central Ohio. The Network is heavily focused in the Columbus central city area; in order for a city and region to be strong, the central city neighborhoods must also be strong. Urban living is exciting, diverse, and affordable, especially in the Capital City!
CLN is a cooperative of local community development corporations (CDCs) and is powered by Enterprise Community Partners.

The Columbus CityLiving Network website provides a snapshot look at some of Columbus’ urban neighborhoods and the housing opportunities available. The homes featured on this site were all built by community development corporations – neighborhood nonprofit organizations with a mission to provide quality housing opportunities and revitalize communities. This means that these homes are built with higher quality standards and designed to fit in the fabric of the neighborhood now and for generations to come.
